FCCLA - St. Judes Annual Volleyball Tournament

Karenza ShaeLou Marie Hunsperger was crowned Homecoming Queen at Friday night's basketball game versus the Winona Wildcats.  Karenza was escorted by Devin Ray McCall.

HOMECOMING 2017-18 will be this Friday evening against the Winona Wildcats.  This is an exciting time in Blue Jay Basketball, make plans to attend and be a part of the Blue Jay excitement.  The Senior Candidates are Kamryn Fitzhugh, daughter of Dalena Fitzhugh and Mark Fitzhugh.  Kamryn is being escorted by Junior, Stone Peterson.  Stone is the son of Shayne and Renetta Peterson; Isabel Johnson, daughter of Jennifer Johnson, Isabel is being escorted by Senior, Austin Revelle.  Austin is the son of Kelly and Sheryl Revelle; Karenza Hunsperger, daughter of Fannie Willard and David Hunsperger, Karenza is being escorted by Sophomore, Devin McCall.  Devin is the son of Mark and Amanda McCall; Jennifer Simpson, daughter of Keith Simpson, Jennifer is escorted by Junior, Brenden Kimbrough.  Brenden is the son of Phillip and Amy Kimbrough, and not pictured, Jade Smith, daughter of Neasha and Winford Smith, Jade is being escorted by Senior, Austin Bell.  Austin is the son of Robin and Brian Orsborn.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!  Koshkonong High School was well represented at the 2017-18 Missouri Beta State Convention held this weekend at Springfield, Missouri.  Stone Peterson won 1st Place in the History Division, Savannah Hornback placed 1st in the Agriculture Division, and Tyra Gee got 3rd in the Poetry Division.  Congratulations to all three, and Good Luck as you compete in the National Beta Convention in Savannah, Georgia this Summer.

First HOME GAME of the season.  The Koshkonong Blue Jays will be hosting Hillcrest, Arkansas this evening.  Games are scheduled to start at 5:30.  Come on out, support your team, and enjoy a great night of basketball.

The Annual Blue and White games will be held on November 16, 2017.  These games provide the opportunity for the community and fans to get their first glimpse of the 2017-2018 team.  Players showcase their talents and abilities, while providing a great night of basketball and raising money for the Athletic Department.  There will be the annual auction.  Plan on attending this event, and let the Blue Jay Spirit roll.

Blue Jay Basketball for the 2017-2018 Season is kicking off, with a Jamboree to be held at Lutie High School, Tuesday November, 14th.  The games are scheduled to begin at 5:00.  Both teams will be playing.

Chocolate Fest 2017

Koshkonong FCCLA will be hosting the annual Chocolate Fest November 9, 2017, from 5:00-6:30 pm. Enter your chocolate delicacy into the silent auction.  Taste-testing tickets are 50 cents each or 4/$1.  All proceeds go to Cystic Fibrosis.  Click on the picture above for the entry form.

2017 Jr. High Ozarko Tire Centers Koshkonong Invitational Tournament

Andi Hilburn - McDonalds

All questions regarding McDonald's were finally answered. The secret to the great tasting McDonald's soda, is really a very in-depth scientific process-chillin'.  Andi Hilburn, owner of our local McDonald's took time to share with our students how to make a good first impression, be confident, prepared, and enthusiastic as one approaches a job interview.  She explained the importance of being a hard worker, dedicated, and willing to go the extra step.  She discussed the life lessons one can learn working at McDonald's, and the benefits and perks that McDonald's gives back to their employees.  This experience was one to remember; members of the class were given useful knowledge and suggestions that if applied will make our students better individuals in whatever position they chose in life.  Again, a special thanks to Andi, Ashley, and West Plains McDonald's for taking the time out of their busy day, and meet with us; and the drinks/deserts were an added bonus to the end of an eventful day.

Jason Peterson - All State Insurance

Jason Peterson, owner/agent at Chadwick-Peterson Insurance Service All State Insurance, provided educational material to the students discussing various types of insurance.  Jason discussed the different types, their coverage, cost and benefits of carry these policies.  He discussed the risks and statistics facing teenage drivers and how dangerous it can be to text and drive.   Another highlight of the students was the donuts provided.  Thanks to Jason and his entire staff for the time the spent preparing for this visit and for all the information they shared with the Personal Finance Class.  Click on the picture to visit Jason Peterson Allstate website.

Shaun Duggins, President of Carol Jones Realtors gave the Koshkonong Personal Finance Class the red carpet treatment on Wednesday, October 18th.  Mr. Duggins, along with fellow agent Taylor Duggins, held a personal showing for the students as they toured one of West Plains upper end homes, which was located on the outskirts of the city.  He explained the buying process, from how to begin using web based tools,  how an agent will guide one through the entire process, lenders, inspections, title companies, etc.   Mr. Duggins also shared with the class the importance of maintaining your credit score, and provided information about choosing a career in the Real Estate profession.  We would like to thank Shaun, Taylor and Carol Jones Realtors for taking the time to provide such an enjoyable and informative tour.  Click on the photo above to visit the Carol Jones Realtors website.

West Plains Bank - Diana Brown and Karen Smith

A big thank you to West Plains Bank, and their employees Karen Smith and Diana Brown for providing a tour of the bank and talking to our students about various features and products the bank has to offer.  They introduced the students to safe deposit boxes, credit scores, and loan applications.  They emphasized the importance of keeping personal finance information private and the real threat of having this information compromised.  The class enjoyed the opportunity to sit in the Board Room, and the little flash lights that were given to each student in attendance.  Thanks again for allowing this opportunity for our students.

Tuesday, August 15th is Open House for Koshkonong School.  Students and their families are encouraged to come visit with their teachers, preview their classrooms and school buildings before the new school year starts.  Open House begins at 6pm and continues until 7:30pm.

Koshkonong FFA **RIB SALE**

The Koshkonong FFA Chapter is selling full racks of dry rub, baby back pork ribs as a fundraiser.  The ribs are selling for $20.00 a rack.  You will be able to pick up your ribs Tuesday, May 9th, from 3pm - 5:30pm at the Koshkonong Ag Building, or the West Plains Civic Center from 4pm - 5:30pm.  How many ribs can you help us with today?

Conference Champions - Quiz Bowl

     Koshkononog High School went home with top honors, after winning the right to be call Conference Champs in Quiz Bowl competition held Wednesday afternoon at Dora.  Individual honors went to Tori Collins for placing 2nd, and Stone Peterson 3rd, and earning a place on the All-Conference Team.

     Brook Reid was crowned Koshkonong 2016-17 Homecoming Queen at the game held December 20th at the Koshkonong High School gymnasium.  The Blue Jays hosted the Couch Indians, in a full night of basketball, with all four teams playing.  Brook's escort was Austin Bell.

Students To Access SIS (Parent Portal)

Students can now access the school's Parent Portal, through their individual accounts.  This program will allow students the ability to view assignments, grades, attendance, etc., and to stay informed of their personal progress.

Bethany Warden selected for Distric Honor Choir

Bethany Warden recently auditioned for the District Level Honor Choir.  Over 100 students, representing all the schools from here to Springfield, auditioned for a position singing Alto.  She was  one of the few selected, and will perform with the Choir on November 5, 2016 in Bolivar, Missouri.  Congratulations, Bethany!!

Peterson Places at Nationals

Stone Peterson, a Freshman at Koshkonong High School, recently brought national recognition to Koshkonong.  This spring Peterson placed 1st at the Missouri Beta Club Convention, in Branson, Missouri earning an invitation to participate in the National Beta Club Convention in New Orleans, Louisiana.  At the National Competions, Peterson placed 5th in the Social Studies division. 

Holesapple signs at Welch College

Chelsea Holesapple has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and play basketball at Welch College. Holesapple’s new coach Katie Bryan said, “We are excited to have Chelsea be a part of our program here at Welch... Chelsea is a student athlete that you would want on every team.” Welch is a private four-year Christian college located in Nashville, Tennessee.
